In the year 1885, Alexander Parkes created the first human made plastic called Parkesine. Later it was called Celluloid. At the 1862 Great International Exhibition which was held in London, it was showcased to the public. A Belgian born American, Leo Hendrik Baekeland made the first true synthetic plastic in 1907 in New York in the United States.
