Around 132 A.D., a Chinese scholar Chang Heng created one of the earliest devices to detect earthquakes. In 1880, the British geologist John Milne, often known as the father of seismology developed the first accurate seismograph in Japan. Russian Prince, Boris Golitsyn in 1906 invented the first electromagnetic seismograph.
