When was Transistors invented?

In 1947, the American physicists John Bardeen, Walter Brain and William Shockley invented the transistor at Bell Telephone Laboratories. They were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in the year 1956. In the year 1954, Texas Instruments produced the first silicon transistor. The use of transistor is to amplify and switch electronic signals.
