When was the light bulb invented?

In 1809, the first incandescent light bulb was created by an English chemist Sir Humphry Davy by connecting wires and a piece of carbon to a battery. The carbon glowed and thus light was produced. Thomas Alva Edison improved the bulb after lots of experiments with different filaments in 1879 and produced a bulb that could glow for over 1500 hours.

Thomas Edison didn’t invent the light bulb, he improved it. Edison improved
Sir Humphry Davy’s work and by improving it, he got famous for it.
Why you probably never hear the name Humphry Davy?
It’s because when Edison got famous for improving the light bulb, Humphry Davy’s idea got pushed away and this made everyone think that the light bulb was all Thomas Edison’s idea.
Without sir Humphry Davy’s idea, we possibly wouldn’t have the electric lights we have in our houses today.
So no Thomas Edison didn’t not invent the light bulb, he was just well known for improving it.
