Harry Gem along with his friend Augurio Perera invented tennis between 1859 and 1865. By combining parts of two sports – rackets and a Basque ball game called as Pelota they created the game. In the year 1873, the Major Walter Clopton Wingfield designed the lawn tennis game and its rules were first published by him.
